Diversity Scholarships

The program offer Diversity Scholarship to student of ethnic minority groups in Hong Kong. Selected student will go on a Year Program as an AFS exchange student to Malaysia for one academic year, practically free of charge under the Scholarship scheme.

The Program

Participant will have the opportunity to live with local host family and study in public school in Malaysia. There will be orientations about the culture, life, and language of this diverse society. The school year runs from January to December, with several vacations. The language of instruction is Bahasa Melayu, but English is a compulsory second language.

Eligibility

Student from ethnic minority groups in Hong Kong are eligible as long as they:

1. are between 15 and 18.6 years of age on departure;
2. are attending a full-time secondary school;
3. demonstrate good academic motivation;
4. are in good health; and
5. enjoys meeting people and are receptive to new experiences and environments.

Applications and Selection

Applicant must complete the attached preliminary application form and return it to us for selection process.

The decision will rest with AFS and the selected scholar will be required to complete detailed AFS application and health forms at later stage.
