AFS overseas exchange programs are operated according to the clearly laid down AFS international standard and model. There are established procedures and specific activities for the participants from the time they enroll in the program, and undergo the screening process to the moment they return to Hong Kong after its conclusion, in order to fully prepare them for cultural exchanges.

Unlike other short-term study tours, AFS values the participants’ total participation in the program, to ensure that they can enjoy the best learning opportunities.

To safeguard the programs’ quality, AFS branches around the world will carry out reviews on a regular basis, and assess the procedures and results of various exchange programs by conducting surveys with the participants, parents, receiving families and receiving schools.

As AFS exchange programs value international exchange and cultural experiences, participants will be organized to study in schools and live with the receiving families of the exchange country. They will also be encouraged to enjoy their overseas life and participate in community activities, thus enabling them to learn about international cultural exchanges through the most authentic life experiences. Receiving families will not receive any monetary reward to ensure that AFS exchange programs are carried out with modesty, mutual trust and sincerity.
